I finished the marathon two days early. Thirty episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation in three days...truly a nerdy feat if there ever was one. Did me some good, too. At the risk of sounding a bit too much like Barclay, spending some time with old friends and not worrying about anything else going on has helped me realigned my own matter/anti-matter mix a bit.

After watching these thirty episodes, I've come up with my top ten NextGen episodes list (this list subject to change at any given moment):
1. "The Best of Both Worlds" (Part 1)
2. "The Inner Light"
3. "Relics"
4. "The Best of Both Worlds" (Part 2)
5. "Darmok"
6. "Déjà Q"
7. "The Enemy"
8. "Hollow Pursuits"
9. "Family"
10. "The Measure of a Man"

I was on the Twitter while watching through my marathon. For those interested in reading the tweets but not going to the Twitter, I present all the related tweets here in their boring glory.

I'm going to be throwing myself a ST: TNG viewing marathon next week while I recover from a medical thing. Which episodes should I include?
3:08 PM Oct 31st from TweetDeck

Definitely going to be including "Measure of a Man" in the marathon considering the kind of medical thing I'm having done. Or is that TMI?
3:12 PM Oct 31st from TweetDeck

In honor of my ST:TNG marathon later this week, all my lunchtime toasts this week will be NextGen themed.
11:53 AM Nov 2nd from web

I'll still toast Ookla even though he was never on NextGen. Would have been cool if he had been on. An Ookla and Worf fight would rock!
11:54 AM Nov 2nd from web

Today I toast out of control holodeks, Ookla the Mok, and Michael Dorn. Worf should still be on TV.
12:03 PM Nov 2nd from web

What current show would benefit from having Worf added to the cast?
12:03 PM Nov 2nd from web

For example, Ghost Whisperer would be so much better if Worf were on that show. I'd start watching.
12:11 PM Nov 2nd from web

Suggestions so far have Worf added to Ghost Whisperer, Hell's Kitchen, The VIEW, The Bachelor, and Smallville. Love it!
2:24 PM Nov 2nd from web

Today I toast causality loops, Ookla the Mok, and John de Lancie. #lunchtimetoast
12:07 PM Nov 3rd from web

Aw...look at what I found on my computer after stepping out for a second: http://twitpic.com/o68zy
5:21 PM Nov 3rd from TweetDeck

Gonna have to take that with me to tomorrow's medical procedure.
5:22 PM Nov 3rd from TweetDeck

The first episode of the new V aired tonight, but I'll be facing my own "V" tomorrow. http://bit.ly/4c0h8M
11:05 PM Nov 3rd from TweetDeck

I doubt I'll be doing a #lunchtimetoast tomorrow. I'm sorry, Ookla.
11:07 PM Nov 3rd from TweetDeck

Here I was worried about getting up early enough when I should have been worried about being able to sleep in the first place.
5:32 AM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

I should have watched Casino Royale last night for tips on how James Bond might deal with this.
6:51 AM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

Got in and the doc decided to give me something to take the edge off. Feeling a bit loopy now. Glad it's over.
8:37 AM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

Drugs have worn off so my sit on the couch and watch NextGen 5-day marathon begins. Up first, "Measure of a Man." #sttng
11:00 AM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

This episode has the first poker game on the show. Love Riker's poker face.
11:06 AM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

I always think about "Measure of a Man" being a Data episode but it really is much more of a Picard show. And a great one at that. #sttng
11:53 AM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

Up next is "Q Who?" Introduction of the Borg. #sttng
12:01 PM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

Guinan's backstory was pretty cool until they tried filling it in with more details. Lost potential there. #sttng
12:31 PM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

Actually, "Q Who?" is kind of a clunkily-written episode. Great for setting up the Borg, but a lot of stilted dialog and not enough of Q.
12:38 PM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

Today I toast cybernetic lifeforms, Ookla the Mok, and Jonathan Frakes who is vastly under-rated. #lunchtimetoast #sttng
12:40 PM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

Just started "Peak Performance." Love Riker's attitude in this one. "Do you care to surrender now, Captain?" #sttng
1:04 PM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

cordy74: @nerdlunch While I sit at work trying to design a bracket for a back-up camera system I am with you in spirit. Wish I was really there, tho.
12:58 PM Nov 4th from web

@cordy74 Thanks, Cordy. Would be fun to have someone here to share in the marathon.
1:06 PM Nov 4th from TweetDeck in reply to cordy74

This episode makes me realize how much a Captain Riker series would have rocked. #sttng
1:27 PM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

"Just remember Enterprise, Captain Riker has never lost." Right there is why I love Riker. #sttng
1:34 PM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

Something started going wrong with my iPhone. Tweet overload. Starting "The Enemy" now. Will resume tweeting from the couch soon. #sttng
1:57 PM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

Dr. Crusher is infinitely better than Dr. Pulaski. Updated uniforms also much better. #sttng
2:06 PM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

"The Enemy" is well-crafted episode showing the dichotomy between Geordi and Worf. This would have to make my top ten list. #sttng
2:45 PM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

Done with "The Enemy." Next is "The Hunted" although I might skip that and go to "Deja Q" instead. Not sure yet. #sttng
2:58 PM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

Decided to go with "The Hunted" but "Deja Q" is up next. #sttng
3:32 PM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

Riche_613: @nerdlunch dude the Q episodes def the best.the one w/the "suicidal" Q where they actually go and are in the Q war! awesome!!& Baby q too!
3:11 PM Nov 4th from TweetDeck in reply to nerdlunch

@Riche_613 I love Q although not a fan of Voyager. More of a Classic/NextGen/DS9 fan myself.
3:34 PM Nov 4th from TweetDeck in reply to Riche_613

"They used a combination of cryptobiolin, triclenidil, macrospentol and a few things I can't even recognize." #sttng #technobabble
3:53 PM Nov 4th from web

"The Hunted" isn't an overly great episode, but the Danar escapes sequence is awesome. #sttng
4:16 PM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

If I ever do another NextGen marathon, I'm not including "The Hunted." One of NextGen's best,"Deja Q," is up next! #sttng
4:28 PM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

Actually, the DVD I'm putting in now has three from my marathon list: "Deja Q," "Yesterday's Enterprise," and "The Offspring." Solid! #sttng
4:30 PM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

The viewing of this episode has taken longer thanks to a crying baby. And that validates this morning's procedure.
5:27 PM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

And "Deja Q" is done. Another well-crafted episode. Taking a break from NextGen for a bit. Probably will resume later this evening. #sttng
5:50 PM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

"Yesterday's Enterprise" on deck. Opens with the classic prune juice scene. #sttng
7:56 PM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

The "Yesterday's Enterprise" alternate Enterprise-D bridge design is awesome. They should have stuck with that somehow. #sttng
8:05 PM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

They lamely kill Yar, brilliantly make up for that, then undo the make good by revealing she didn't die but had a kid with a Romulan. #sttng
8:46 PM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

"The Offspring" is next and will likely be my last one of the day. An ironical one to end on considering what happened to me today. #sttng
9:00 PM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

This is also a good one to end on today since it picks up on themes from the first one I watched today, "Measure of a Man." #sttng
9:06 PM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

I love the big deal they make about Lal being able master the one thing Data never could...verbal contractions. #sttng
9:28 PM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

Forgot how sappy that episode is. Good in spite of that. That's it for NextGen for today. Got eight in. I'll pick up again tomorrow. #sttng
9:52 PM Nov 4th from TweetDeck

Day 2 of my NextGen marathon begins with "Hollow Pursuits." Star Trek + A-Team cast member = Awesome! #sttng
8:05 AM Nov 5th from TweetDeck

Lt. Barclay is one of the best non-regular Trek characters. Up next, "Sarek," featuring another great non-regular Trek character. #sttng
9:02 AM Nov 5th from TweetDeck

Wesley sure is getting chewed out a lot this episode. Might be part of why I like it. #sttng9:18 AM Nov 5th from TweetDeck

Ah yes, the Ten Forward bar fight scene...the other reason I like this episode. #sttng
9:20 AM Nov 5th from TweetDeck

Getting ready to be assimilated. Time to watch "Best of Both Worlds." Gonna watch both parts followed by their epilogue, "Family." #sttng
10:13 AM Nov 5th from TweetDeck

"Best of Both Worlds" is 1000 times better than any of the NextGen movies. #sttng
11:59 AM Nov 5th from TweetDeck

Today I toast warp core breaches, Ookla the Mok, and master thespian Patrick Stewart. #sttng #lunchtimetoast
1:08 PM Nov 5th from TweetDeck

Rewatching these NextGen episodes just makes me hate the NextGen movies more. They should never have killed Robert and Rene Picard. #sttng
1:49 PM Nov 5th from TweetDeck

Next up is "Brothers." Data-goes-crazy sequences are a blast. #sttng
1:51 PM Nov 5th from TweetDeck

Beginning "Data's Day" now. I like these day-in-the-life type stories. #sttng
2:52 PM Nov 5th from TweetDeck

An appearance by Mott the Barber in this one. #sttng
2:57 PM Nov 5th from TweetDeck

CT, with frozen peas, on the couch. (That's me trying to talk like a Child of Tama from "Darmok," which I'm starting now.) #sttng
4:05 PM Nov 5th from TweetDeck

After a break, I've resumed the NextGen marathon with "Disaster." Picard and kids stuck in a turbolift...good stuff. #sttng
6:33 PM Nov 5th from TweetDeck

My 5-year-old girl is watching NextGen with me and says that Data "is almost like Spock." I ask why. "Because he knows everything." #sttng
6:45 PM Nov 5th from TweetDeck

Kids in bed, gonna do another batch of episodes. The DVD in right now has the next two: "Cause and Effect" and "The First Duty." #sttng
8:18 PM Nov 5th from TweetDeck

DVD in containing the next 3 marathon episodes: "The Perfect Mate," "I, Borg," and "The Next Phase." Can I get all watched tonight? #sttng
9:56 PM Nov 5th from TweetDeck

Dolphins on the Enterprise-D? Weird little throw away line there. #sttng
10:18 PM Nov 5th from TweetDeck

Fell asleep while watching "I, Borg" last night. I'll resume the marathon shortly by finishing that one. #sttng
6:57 AM Nov 6th from TweetDeck

Follow Friday - Star Trek: NextGen Edition... @BrentSpiner @levarburton @wilw #sttng #followfriday
7:30 AM Nov 6th from TweetDeck

Riker playing the trombone at Geordi and Ro's memorial service...love it! #sttng
about 22 hours ago from TweetDeck

"The Next Phase" isn't an episode that comes up often as a common NextGen favorite, but I think it's great. Vastly underrated. #sttng
about 22 hours ago from TweetDeck

"The Inner Light" is often on the list of favorites and I like it a lot, but I'm skipping it since I just watched it a few weeks ago. #sttng
about 22 hours ago from TweetDeck

So, the next episode in the marathon is "Relics." Got a bit of a Geordi-centric stretch of episodes going right now. #sttng
about 22 hours ago from TweetDeck

Scotty and Picard on the bridge of the original Enterprise is one of my favorite scenes ever in all of Trek. #sttng
about 21 hours ago from TweetDeck

My marathon is going quicker than I anticipated so I'm adding both parts of "Chain of Command" for @nerdlunchjeeg. They're up next. #sttng
about 21 hours ago from TweetDeck

Forgot that David Warner played the main Cardassian in this two-parter. Glad @nerdlunchjeeg suggested its inclusion in the marathon. @sttngabout 18 hours ago from TweetDeck

Missed the #lunchtimetoast today. Here it is late: I toast anti-time, Ookla the Mok, and Levar Burton (@levarburton).about 18 hours ago from TweetDeck

Thanks to @nerdlunchjeeg for suggesting I include the "Chain of Command" two-parter. Should've been on my list in the first place. #sttng
about 17 hours ago from TweetDeck

Starting "Tapestry" now. Naussicans and Q in the same episode! #sttng
about 17 hours ago from TweetDeck

The guy playing Young Picard in this episode looks nothing like Tom Hardy. And he has hair. #sttng #startreknemesiswasgarbageabout 17 hours ago from TweetDeck

Took a break to get off the couch and out of the house. Back to the NextGen marathon. Gonna try to finish tonight. #sttng
about 12 hours ago from TweetDeck

Up first in this final stretch is Star Trek: Die Hard aka "Starship Mine." #sttng
about 12 hours ago from TweetDeck

Forgot about Data's small talk subplot in this episode. Funny stuff. #sttng
about 12 hours ago from TweetDeck

It's cool that Picard goes to Worf's quarters to stock up on weapons in order to fight the space terrorists. #sttng
about 11 hours ago from TweetDeck

Another underrated episode up next..."Timescape." In a lot of ways, this one is very similar to "The Next Phase." #sttng
about 11 hours ago from TweetDeck

Romulan distress call followed by whacky sci-fi stuff. When will the Enterprise crew ever learn? #sttng
about 11 hours ago from TweetDeck

Brannon Braga likes to destroy the Enterprise. It seems like every episode I've watched written by him features it exploding. #sttng
about 10 hours ago from TweetDeck

I'm starting "Parallels" now, also by Braga, and I think it blows up in this one, too. #sttng
about 10 hours ago from TweetDeck

Braga apparently also likes to include cake in his stories, but my marathon does not include the Troi-as-a-cake episode. #sttng
about 10 hours ago from TweetDeck

Well, it's the end of the third day of what I thought would take five days and I'm already at the last episode, "All Good Things..." #sttng
about 9 hours ago from TweetDeck

This one is co-written by Braga. I think the Enterprise blows up in this one, too. Can't recall if there's cake though. #sttng
about 9 hours ago from TweetDeck

Also co-written by Ronald D. Moore (BSG fame) who has a hand in writing a third of the episodes I chose for the marathon. #sttng
about 9 hours ago from TweetDeck

Moore and Braga also wrote Star Trek Generations. Enterprise blew up in that movie, too. #sttng
about 9 hours ago from TweetDeck

I always thought Worf said "Jo-Jo Kah" but according to the subtitles, he actually says "Dor-sHo GHA!" #sttng
about 8 hours ago from TweetDeck

While Picard said the sky's the limit, I've reached mine. Thus ends the NextGen marathon. Thanks for putting up with all the tweets. #sttng
