Outlook Not So Good

We kick off the new year by peering into the future with fourth chair Doug Frye from the Schlock Treatment podcast. Using all the tools at our disposal from tarot cards to the Magic 8 Ball, we each make predictions for 2013 in the realms of TV, movies, and fast food. We also start up the Nerd Lunch Dead Pool and predict which celebrities will kick the bucket this year. Our Nerd To-Dos feature Star Wars Angry Birds, Battlestar Galactica, The Six Million Dollar Man, and Jack in the Box.

I thought of a TV prediction after we recorded that I should have made instead of the one I did. I would like to include it as an addendum now:

I predict that whatever they do for the Doctor Who 50th anniversary celebration will be lackluster and disappointing. Fans are clamoring for a multi-Doctor story and I think we might get some sort of cameo thing, but it will leave most fans dissatisfied.

There. I feel better now. Except, I don't want this to come true.

Wendy's breakfast is not a myth...I have seen it.

Although I don't remember eating it or if I even bought some for that matter. It must not have been good. It was in the Space Coast, FL area a few years back.

I could go without Wendy's breakfast but I'm still waiting for the McDonald's breakfast to go 24/7. Wasn't that supposed to happen?

Interesting that everyone's a little worried about the crop of superhero films this year. I guess I'm in the same boat although I'm still very excited for all of them, especially Wolverine and Thor 2.

Life on Mars - Brilliant show - Big fan of most of the characters. Stick with it. I've watched the entire series a few times, and it ends really well. Enough said on that.

BUT SOMEWHERE around episode 12 (Episode 4, second season) you will be looking for this continue beyond episode 16, and you figure you have it made with Ashes to Ashes, the spiritual sequel to Life on Mars.

Here's the problem: It's not available on DVD in region 1, not available online (as far as I could find) - don't know if it's on Netflix - but I kind of doubt it.

In other words, good luck trying to find Ashes to Ashes. I wish I had better news, but there it is.

I just finished Life on Mars last night as a matter of fact and have already been trying to figure out how I'm going to overcome the Ashes to Ashes problem.

I really liked how Life on Mars turned out. I was worried about the ending going into it because it was the kind of show that I felt needed a solid ending. And I was pleased.

But yeah, Ashes to Ashes, I can't believe that's not come over to Region 1 yet. I'll figure something out.
